Death Cab to Play at Millennium Park

In a post on the band’s website, the Seattle indie rock group Death Cab for Cutie announced that they would be playing a special job at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

What makes this story news worthy?

Well, since the Pritzker Pavilion is usually taken up in the summer months by the Millennium Park Orchestra, this Death Cab concert will be one of the only contemporary acts to stop by the venue this summer. Last summer for example, only two rock bands played Millennium Park; The Decemberists, who put on a free concert with the orchestra, and Wilco who played a benefit concert in September.

Tickets for the event go on sale April 19 and are $45 with $10 lawn seating also available.

Note: If you plan on grabbing some cheap lawn seats get to the park early. Last year, for The Decemberists show, we showed up about an hour before the show started and sat so far back that we could barely see the band.
